Walking For Weight Loss

You will find that here are many various forms of exercise that a person can take part in. These forms of exercise can be taken up just for pleasure or for the intent of toning your body and increase your fitness. In other words you can find many means of losing that non desired weight that has decided to stick to you. While gyms are a great idea for a lot of people there are an equal amount that find walking for exercise a great activity for weight loss.

Walking for weight loss is a pleasurable activity that can be none by all people, all ages, and all shapes and sizes. Walking to lose weight is very effective as you can burn anything from 60 to 130 calories per mile. To get more from walking as exercise you can incorporate working other body muscles like your arms when on the move. It is advisable to wear items of clothing that will let you move freely. These clothes should also let your body breath, as you can build up quite a sweat while walking.

Your footwear is equally important. You should seriously consider investing in a pair of good running shoes that are well fitting. You should look for a pair that give your feet some support because you will be taking many steps in these. The next step is to find your comfort walking level.

You should start your weight loss walk by taking a brisk pace over a mile or two. At this pace you should be able to talk with comfort with another person. To increase your calorie burn you should consider swinging your arms to reflect your walking strides.

You should continue this exercise till you are able to feel your heart rate at a comfortable rate. If you keep on track with your exercise you will find yourself walking harder, faster, and further in no time at all.

Keep your eyes open for new challenges around your area. Do you have grassy areas to walk on, hills etc. By changing your terrain you will be able to turn your exercise to an adventure, and will exert more energy at the same time.
